A unique, shelled monotreme (egg-laying mammal), the haretle is actually a common species in many Orfean beaches. It is often found in large groups, basking under the sun at day. Although very slow, the haretle possesses extraordinary strength and memory, and has been known to injure humans in self defense. Haretle hunting, now outlawed, used to be a very common sport, and its shells sold very highly in the market. Haretle meat are still traded as a delicacy in some places, although it is a controversial practice today.
